Back Home To Greentown

My brother, sister and I are back in Greentown for our third year of going through our mother's "stuff".  We are trying to get it done this year but it seems quite overwhelming at times.  I am just here for a week - so it is packing a lot of pretty glass and cool items to take back home to sell on my online stores.

We go to the Subway for lunch most everyday.  It is just down at the center of town and within walking distance of the house.  Greentown is a small town, one of those picture postcard quaint towns where everyone knows everyone.  I would say most families in Greentown have been here for generations.

On our way to the Subway, we pass the Greentown Glass Museum.  Greentown was home to the Indiana Tumbler and Goblet Company which operated from 1894 to 1903 when the factory burned and was not rebuilt.  This was where "chocolate" glass was invented by Jacob Rosenthal.  He was also responsible for the formula of the color called Holly Amber aka Golden Agate.
Just thought I'd post some pictures of the Greentown Glass Museum which is very stunning for our small little town.  Don't you think?  Anyone coming to Greentown, has to go into the museum.  Lots of gorgeous Greentown glass.  The Greentown Glass Festival is held the second weekend of June.  This year it runs from June 10th through the 12th.  The festival includes an antique glass show, dinner for the membership and an auction.  They also have a "dig" at the old factory site for members.  Haven't been able to do the "dig" but it is on my list of things to do!  Maybe next year - as soon as we get our mother's house done.  Oh, hopefully next year!

Faces of The Sky

SKY was a Scavenger Hunt theme recently at ESN.  You would think that SKY would be a pretty easy theme to do, but I just couldn't think of anything unique.  It is amazing how much the SKY plays a role in how we feel.  When it is sunny and blue, we are happy.  When it is cloudy and gray, we feel sad.  When it is night and dark, we want to sleep.  Heaven is somewhere up in the SKY as we look up to talk to God .  When we daydream, we look to the SKY and watch the clouds or daze at the stars.  The SKY is like a warm comforter that keeps us warm and safe.

Here are a few things I found in the stores of ESN bloggers that remind me of the SKY

Moon and Stars - Vinyl wall lettering from Walls That Talk.  The nightime sky of Dream, Moon, Star .  What a nice and peaceful thought before you fall asleep.

Angels and Clouds - what a sweet collector plate by the Hamilton Collection.  Dreamsicles Plate - The Flying Lesson with wonderful little cerub angels and puffy white clouds.  You can find this sweet collector plate at Hazel's HodgePodge.

Blue, Blue and More Blue - At Embroidery Fashions Boutique, I found a wonderful child's blue T-Shirt with a summer sun and ocean waves.  Summertime would be a great T-Shirt to wear at the beach.  Different sizes are available.

Sun and a Bright Smile - how does this not put a smile on your face.  This M & M Yellow Glass Handled Bowl can be found at Bargain Express.  This will bring a smile to your face and a joy to your heart just like the yellow sun in the deep blue sky.

Please visit these and other ESN sellers on ESN.  Would love for you to visit my store too - CAROLINABLUELADY Vintage Collectibles and remember to look at the SKY and dream.

Sea Cruise

Well, slap me with a wet noodle!  Can't believe how fast time goes by - will do my best to get you all caught up on the ESN Scavenger Hunts - there have been some great themes that I have missed.  This week's scavenger hunt theme is "Seas".  My first thought was a carribean cruise and the lyrics of Sea Cruise started playing in my head.  Remember Sea Cruise by Frankie Ford?  Popular back in 1959, it was a fun song to dance to - rock n roll was in full swing!
As far as going on a sea cruise, no I haven't.  Don't think you can count cruising from Hilton Head to Savannah on the Spirit of Harbour Town as going on a cruise.  Some day I would really like to go on a carribean cruise visiting the carribean islands, lounging on the deck; reading a good book and listening to my favorite man in the whole world -
Luckily, I don't need to go on a cruise to listen to Jimmy Buffett!

Things I found at the eCrater stores of ESN Scavenger bloggers that I will need to go on my carribean cruise.

A pair of Turquioise Blue Canvas shoes will look great while lounging on the deck.  You can find these at Bargain Express

Here is a gorgeous embroidered monarch butterfly hat to keep the sun out of my eyes.  Comes from Embroidery Fashions Boutique and I'm sure you could get this in other colors

How stunning is this beautiful Silk Striped Top in turquoise, lavender, pink and green?  Would look gorgeous with white dress pants and perfect for evening dinner.  See this at Eccentric Thrifter - can't beat the price either.

Love this tote from Barb's Bargains - Dragonfly Hobo Handbag.  Very stylish - use it as a handbag or tote.

And, of course, I will need to take some books - easy reads.  The Duke's Mistress looked intriguing.  This is just one of many that Comycgyrl has to choose from.

So many things to choose from - this is just a sampling of some great items to take on that Sea Cruise from eCrater sellers.
